Egidijus Kaveckas

Egidijus Kaveckas (b. 1986) graduated from Klaipėda Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire, where he gained choir conductor diploma (lect. Audronė Purlienė). During 2005-2011 he studied choir conducting in the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (prof. Česlovas Radžiūnas). From 2012 until 2016 E. Kaveckas has been taking doctor’s degree (prof. V. Miškinis, Prof. Hp. dr. G. Daunoravičienė). Both as a performer and choir conductor he actively participates in academic concerts and music projects. During 2005 – 2016 he sang and was a second conductor (from 2009 to 2016) of the Vilnius City Municipal Choir “Jauna Muzika”. In 2006 he founded a vocal ensemble “Balsai” and actively participated in different concerts, festivals and competitions until 2014. From 2011 until now he is main conductor in the State Song and Dance Ensemble Lietuva. He had attended choir conducting masterclasses led by Werner Pfaff (Germany), Erwin Ortner (Vienna), Georg Grün (Germany), Erik Westberg (Sweden). In 2007 E. Kaveckas won 2nd prize at the country’s contest of conducting for High School students in Klaipėda. In 2009 E. Kaveckas won 1st prize at the Young Conductors’ Contest of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius. In 2014 E. Kaveckas participated in Jāzeps Vītols choral conductors contest in Riga (Latvia) and was awarded by special competition prize. In 2009 with vocal ensemble Balsai E. Kaveckas won 1st place in the category of vocal ensembles and the Grand Prix in the International Stasys Simkus Choir Competition in Lithuania. In 2011 at the competition Silver bells (latv. “Sudraba zvani”) he won 1st place in the category of vocal ensembles. In 2011 at the XII choir festival “Tallin 2011” E. Kaveckas won 3rd place in the category of vocal ensembles and had won more different choir competitions.
From 2016 to 2017 E. Kaveckas was an artistic director and main conductor of Siauliai State Chamber choir “Polifonija”. Even more, from February of 2017th, he is an art director of mixed choir „Bel Canto“ in Vilnius. From 2019 he is a Vilnius City Opera Vocal ensemble conductor.
